Access route and gate
Send a map pin for the exact gate the lorry should use, not just the project name. Point out low bridges, overhead cables, height barriers, narrow village roads and weight-limited bridges on the final approach. If the site has a separate delivery entrance or security registration, share the procedure in advance.
Ground and turning space
A loaded lorry needs firm, level ground where it stops and enough space to turn or reverse safely. After rain, soft ground on construction sites can trap a vehicle. Prepare a hard standing area or tell us the conditions so a suitable vehicle and approach can be planned.
Unloading method
Confirm who unloads and with what: forklift, crane, excavator or manual crew. Make sure the equipment and operator are on site when the lorry arrives, and that the load can be placed where it is needed. Waiting for lifting equipment is one of the most common causes of extra time on a job.
On-the-day contact and documents
Name one person who will answer the phone on the delivery day and can direct the driver. Prepare the delivery order, purchase order or gate pass the site needs, and say who signs for the goods. If the receiving time changes, tell the transporter before dispatch.
