Lorry with driver

A lorry hired together with its driver (sewa lori dengan pemandu). The driver operates the vehicle; loading crew and lifting equipment are arranged separately unless agreed.

BDM (Berat Dengan Muatan)

The gross laden weight shown on a Malaysian lorry: the maximum permitted weight of the vehicle together with its load.

BTM (Berat Tanpa Muatan)

The unladen weight of the vehicle. BDM minus BTM gives a rough idea of the permitted payload.

GDL (Goods Driving Licence)

The vocational licence that allows a driver to drive goods vehicles commercially in Malaysia, held together with the matching driving-licence class.

Prime mover

The tractor unit that pulls a trailer. Prime movers with flatbed or low-loader trailers carry long pipe, machinery and oversized loads.

Low loader

A trailer with a low deck height, used for tall or heavy machinery so the total height stays within road clearances.

Crane lorry (HIAB)

A lorry with a mounted crane that can lift some loads on and off by itself; often called a HIAB after a well-known brand.

D/O (Delivery Order)

The document that travels with the goods and is signed by the receiver to confirm delivery.

Outstation

Work away from the operator's home area, often involving long-distance travel and sometimes an overnight stay (luar kawasan).

Multi-drop

One trip that delivers to several stops. List every stop in the first enquiry so the route can be quoted as a whole.

Return load

Cargo carried on the way back from a delivery. Mentioning it early can make a long trip more efficient.

Waiting time

Time the lorry spends waiting at the pickup or site beyond the agreed window. Ask how it is charged before accepting a quotation.

HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling)

A trenchless method that installs pipes, ducts and cables under roads and rivers by drilling a pilot hole, reaming it and pulling back the product pipe.

Pullback

The HDD stage where the product pipe or duct is pulled through the enlarged borehole. The pipe must be on site and ready before pullback starts.

Bentonite

A clay mixed with water to make HDD drilling fluid. It is delivered in bags or on pallets and must be kept dry.

Mobilisation and demobilisation

Mobilisation is moving equipment and materials to a site at the start of work; demobilisation is moving them away at the end.

Map pin

A shared location, for example from Google Maps or Waze, for the exact gate or work front. It is more reliable than a town name for planning a delivery.
